Judi Jones - fine artist,
Judi works in a realistic style, capturing character and telling stories in her artwork. Working with both pastels and oils, she produces bold marks with both confident colour with sombre tones. Her early influences include her mother who was a talented portraitist, and a wonderful art teacher she was fortunate to study under in Swindon. Artists such as Sargent, Rembrandt and more recently, the Impressionists, have had a profound effect upon her work and their influences can be seen in the glazing and impasto techniques she employs. Judi has undertaken some unusual artistic challenges such as designing a chain of office, creating a painting for the "Winstons Wish"charity and producing freehand witness impression drawings for the Police. In 1994 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis but suffered only minor relapses up to 2006 when she suffered a major attack. This left her unable to walk properly or use her right hand, but after treatment and extensive physiotherepy she is able to work fulltime and paint to her previous standard . |
